OverviewThe General Manager will direct and manage activities of Parts Distribution Operations , utilizing subordinate management staff and Company resources to ensure a high degree of customer service/dealer satisfaction, productivity operational efficiency, and quality assurance and cost containment. These objectives are achieved through exploration, development and implementation of creative and innovative concepts, processes and practices. This position requires a self-motivated, detail and goal-oriented individual with a rigorous approach to distribution operations management.Responsibilities
  • Direct and manage assigned personnel to achieve desired results.
  • Direct subordinate management staff in providing training and development of department employees to further enhance and maximize operational performance.
  • Ensure employee compliance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Coach, counsel, administer discipline and provide Assistant Director with recommendations to hire / terminate.
  • Maintain effective Dealer relations and provide high level of customer service.
  • Direct subordinate management staff to achieve and maintain a high degree of customer service and dealer satisfaction within each respective area of responsibility utilizing personnel and Company resources.
  • Ensure accurate and timely responses to dealers’ general and technical inquires and provide accurate on-time delivery of dealer Parts orders.
  • Execute a consistently high level of inter-departmental support and assistance.
  • Direct subordinate management staff to achieve and maintain a high degree of inter-departmental support and assistance within each respective area of responsibility utilizing personnel and Company resources.
  • Ensure accurate and timely responses to resolve internal inquiries and issues.
  • Ensure integrity of Parts inventory. Direct subordinate management staff to achieve and maintain integrity of inventory within each respective area or responsibility, utilizing personnel and Company resources to ensure proper rotation, maintenance and accounting of stock.
  • Ensure appropriate shipping, receiving, and all other warehouse procedures and processes are followed to maintain inventory integrity.
  • Analysis and Reporting: Evaluate Parts activities and interpret related data to ensure desired performance standards are achieved.
  • Maintain increased emphasis on cost/expense containment- equipment supplies, facilities, other.
  • Direct and motivate subordinate management staff in achieving budget specified forecasts to ensure high return on investment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing international shipments, including understanding and executing relevant processes and procedures.
  • Proven ability to proactively research and stay current with international compliance guidelines ensuring alignment with the distribution center’s operational responsibilities.
  • Conferences/Meetings: Attend and participate as required.
  • Represent division operations at local, regional and national level meetings and conferences as scheduled to enhance dealer/Company relations and to maintain awareness of existing and future key business developments.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards, and effectively manage vendor relationships for essential services like transportation and facility maintenance.
  • Budget recommendations: Provide Assistant Director with budgetary recommendations for Parts Department on an annual basis and as otherwise requested by senior management.
  • Proven ability to serve as a mentor by actively supporting the development of team members through guidance, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
  • Experience in creating and implementing succession plans to identify and prepare future leaders, ensuring continuity and long-term organizational success.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or 10-15 years related practical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10-15 years personnel management experience to include hiring/termination/employee training and development, coaching and counseling, policy enforcement, etc.
  • Leadership and personnel management employee training and development.
  • Thorough understanding of wholesale distribution logistics and warehousing principals, inventory accountability and control, budget accountability and control, power equipment and safety- related practices, hazardous materials handling, proficiency in systems and business software applications, analysis and reporting, exceptional verbal and written communication skills, effective leadership and delegation skills, good judgment, creativity, flexibility, excellent motivational skills and management abilities as well as exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact and influence within all levels of the organization (hourly to executive level management).
  • Proficiency in software applications including SAP EWM, Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) and other business software solutions.
  • Lean Six Sigma Belt Certification preferred, not required
  • High Proficiency with and ability to create, interpret and analyze reports including but not limited to spreadsheets charges and various performance tracking mechanisms, etc.
