Unit based Staff Development Specialist may oversee direct and indirect care of patients. Interpretive skills, frequent interactive and consultative collaborations, along with demonstrated leadership ability are inherent in the position. The position requires knowledge of both department and hospital policies and procedures as well as standard practice guidelines and regulatory requirements. The ability to retrieve, communicate or otherwise present information in a written, auditory or visual fashion is essential.   • Bachelor's Degree in an Accredited Program in Radiology Technology required.
  • Five years of experience in Healthcare/Patient Care in relevant discipline preferred.
  • Certification in area of specialty, when eligible to be obtained within 12 months.
  • BLS Certification required.
  • Membership in one professional organization preferred.
Responsibilities:
  • Leads, coaches, and counsels staff with a goal of promoting best practices outcomes.
  • Provides guidance and support to others to achieve professional goals.
  • Collaborates with leadership team to address and achieve organizational goals.
  • Acts as a consultant and liaison in area of specialization throughout the organization.
  • Acts as a lead program manager for at least one specific, ongoing, program.
  • Demonstrates integrity by accepting responsibility for own actions/behaviors.
  • Proactively seeks and participates in experiences and learning opportunities that will advance his or her knowledge of interventions, therapeutics, and clinical skills.
  • Adheres to and promotes unit and hospital guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Submit and maintain clinical education documents accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Takes ownership of delegated tasks through development, execution and/or evaluation of projects.
  • Participates in conservation of financial resources.
  • Contributes to unit and organizational goals and measures to include performance improvement projects.
  • Keeps Director of Staff Development and appropriate leadership informed of departmental activities, needs and opportunities for improvement.
  • Demonstrates flexibility by adapting to changes in priorities and the work environment to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Establishes and fosters a collegial and collaborative relationship with current and new members of the team through respectful communication, resource building, and networking.
  • Engages in problem solving and shared decision making activities with the team by providing or soliciting appropriate constructive feedback and/or solutions.
  • Recognizes and facilitates conflict resolution issues to promote a positive inclusive working environment.
  • Facilitates staff development through support of: role transitions; clinical ladder advancement; career expansion, and/or lifelong learning.
  • Apply coaching and/or mentoring principles to assist staff in achieving job performance competence or professional goals.
  • Support all elements in the professional development practice model to include: In-service, Continuing Education, utilize research and EBP, academic partnerships, orientation and competency programs.
  • Educates learners with regard to protection of rights, responsibilities and accountability.
