- Correctly prioritizes work based on order parameters and responds to critical needs. Assists co-workers in completion of work
- Performs standard procedures for identifying patients
- Documents specimen collections and testing according to standard procedure in the electronic health record (EHR) and the laboratory information system (LIS). Communicates any problems or issues with the patient care team
- Cleans equipment between patient contact
- Troubleshoots equipment in event of malfunction. Alerts Bio-Electronics and/or IT helpdesk if needed
- Performs blood drawing procedures including venipuncture and capillary collection, standard labeling, and transporting specimens according to specimen requirements and standard protocol
- Performs electrocardiogram procedure and transfers data to EHR
- Operates and performs routine maintenance on EKG cart according to procedure
- Follows critical value provider protocol notification and documentation
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of a recognized training program for phlebotomy
- One year of phlebotomy experience
- Certified or certification eligible with a Nationally accredited phlebotomy certification organization
- One year of experience in a hospital inpatient setting
- Completion of a recognized phlebotomy training program with inpatient hospital internship
- Customer Services skills
- Inpatient Phlebotomy skills
