ROGERCO, Inc. (roger) is looking for a talented Writer/Editor to join our team supporting the Army Futures Command (AFC). This candidate will support the AFC with strategic communications and creative campaign plans. An ideal candidate is a seasoned communications professional with experience in speechwriting, content editing, or a similar capacity. This candidate will possess a proven track record in formulating and executing communication campaign plans, demonstrating creativity and strategic thinking.RequirementsResponsibilities:
  • Ensure the written work products adhere to Associated Press or Army style accordingly
  • Represent senior leader voice and vision by drafting collateral materials
  • Research and write/create new presentations, speeches, interviews, training materials, brochures, statements, press releases, talking points, information papers and other communication pieces that address complex and high-profile issues; advise and consult with the customer on messaging and communications strategies; create in-depth communications on a range of subjects.
  • Interviews military officials and subject matter experts, researches, writes, and edits materials for publication covering topics such as Command organizations, missions, operations, history, goals, objectives, accomplishments, perspectives, and the current or future needs of AFC and the Army
  • Serve as editor of Command publications
  • Receive speaking requests, gather details from event organizers, prepare and/or present event briefs, and seek out talking points pertaining to relevant topics of interest
  • Ensure content is compelling, accurate, and aligns with the organization's messaging and branding guidelines
  • Ensure relevant strategy, messaging, branding, and other leadership goals are met and/or accomplished in each task
  • Work with relevant leadership and subject matter experts to ensure each speech holistically covers the relevant topic and meets expectations for each engagement
  • Produce clear communications through a wide range of styles and formats, including formal speeches, remarks, talking points, articles, opinion editorials, blog entries, and other public or internal comments. Deliver services IAW the Army’s principles and guidelines for the capture, manipulation, and publishing of visual information products
  • Provide advice and assistance to the Command on long- and short-range policy development based upon knowledge of public affairs and media operations.
  • Collaborate with strategic communications and graphic design personnel to ensure that collateral elements that may accompany the speech (e.g., PowerPoints, flash movies, photos, videos, etc.) are prepared and help execute the strategy for the presentation
  • Tailor messages to serve the needs of different audiences, including employees, clients, media, social media, students, industry participants, and community organizations
  • Conduct preparation sessions with senior leaders for interviews, panels, and/or public Q&A events, in coordination
  • Coordinates and cooperates with other Army Commands, Army senior leaders, OCPA, HQDA
  • This position may require the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station.
Qualifications:
  • Location: Austin, TX (This is an in-person position.)
  • Education: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with degree in Technical Writing, English, Journalism, Creative Writing or similar discipline
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of direct, relevant experience as a technical writer within the DoD environment. 5 additional years of experience may be substituted for the degree requirement
  • Style Guides: AP Stylebook, Army and DoD public affairs guidance
  • Languages: English
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Active DoD Clearance required
