Job Details:Yukon Public Schools (YPS) first opened its doors in 1891 in a small, one-room frame building. Fast-forward 127 years later, YPS now serves over 9,200 students across the greater Yukon area covering 68 square miles of Canadian County, including Yukon, NW Oklahoma City, SW Oklahoma City and Banner (when students enter the 9th grade). Over 1,200 full-time and part-time staff and faculty members serve the students and community of Yukon Public Schools across several academic, alternative, and athletic facilities, including 7 elementary schools, 3 intermediate schools, 1 middle school campus, and 1 high school campus. Yukon High School is currently the 7th largest high school in Oklahoma. YPS also serves students through our Virtual Elementary, Intermediate, Middle and High Schools, Bridges Academy, YALE, and MOVE programs.   • LEAP: (Learners Excelling And Progressing) Lab/Resource setting with collaboration, monitor, co-teach and direct instruction service delivery.
  • RISE: (Reaching Independence through Structured Education) Functional skills and modified curriculum classroom for students with mild/moderate disabilities.
  • LIFE: (Learning In a Functional Environment) Functional skills and modified curriculum classroom for students with severe/profound disabilities.
  • ABLE: (Academic and Behavioral Learning Environment) Classroom for students with emotional and behavioral concerns.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed;
  • 48 College Hours, Associate's Degree or be able to complete ParaPro tests within 60 days of hire date;
  • Will be required to successfully complete Paraprofessional training provided by the district.
REPORTS TO: Principal and TeacherJOB GOAL: To help provide a smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepare for classroom activities under supervision of certified teacher.
  • Assist teacher with instructional classroom duties.
  • Assists teacher with non-instructional classroom duties, including feeding, tube feeding, toileting (including changing diapers), clothing management, and transitions between classrooms and activities.
  • Assists with an individual child's particular needs when called upon to do so.
  • Performs clerical duties for assigned teacher.
  • Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may assign from time to time.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • 10-month year
  • 174 Work Day Calendar
  • 7 Hour Day
