POSITION SUMMARY & REQUIREMENTS
The Cost Accounting Manager will stand up and mature the cost accounting function and its supporting systems. The role partners with operations, engineering, supply chain, and finance to enable a smooth production ramp while capturing costs accurately. This is a ground-level opportunity to design the approach, document it, and make it scale.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Design, calibrate, and operate standard cost models for materials, labor, and overhead.
  • Map and operationalize inventory accounting in the ERP, including BOM structure, routings, and item master governance with operations and engineering.
  • Author and maintain cost accounting policies under US GAAP with clear, current documentation.
  • Work across teams to reconcile inventory issues and tighten control activities.
  • Determine inventory valuation and reserves and set capitalization rules for tools and builds.
  • Quantify material and production variances and drive corrective actions with stakeholders.
  • Plan and execute cycle counts and annual counts and record adjustments in the ERP.
  • Own month end activities for inventory and production accounts and produce timely reconciliations.
  • Support accounting for installed systems in the field, including deployments, component exchanges, and returns.
  • Coach non accounting partners on core inventory and costing concepts.
  • Pitch in on adjacent tasks as needed to keep the close and operations on track.
EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least five years in manufacturing and cost accounting with experience leading people or processes.
  • Expert knowledge of standard cost, BOMs, routings, and inventory accounting.
  • CMA or CPA preferred. SQL or BI skills for cost analysis are a plus.
  • Significant experience with a manufacturing ERP and item master governance.
  • Strong Excel skills and solid Word and PowerPoint proficiency.
  • Proven variance analysis and root cause problem solving.
  • Clear communicator who partners effectively with supply chain, engineering, operations, and finance.
  • Experience with complex assemblies or electro-mechanical products.
  • Comfortable in a high growth setting with changing priorities.
WORK LOCATION & LOGISTICS
  • Austin, Texas. Five days onsite.
