Our top-tier benefits and great retirement packages can help you build a rewarding career and lasting future with the State of Illinois.Position OverviewThis position is accountable for conducting progress and final audits of Resident Engineer or Resident Technician construction field records to verify compliance with approved policies, and provides documentation training, response to audit findings and maintains historical job record and other contract support functions for the Division of Aeronautics Construction and Materials Section. This position is responsible for producing and maintaining the Airport Construction Documentation Manual.Essential Functions
  • Coordinates activities involved in progress and final documentation audits to verify payment and federal reimbursements for work completed by contractors.
  • Conducts and supervises the review of completed construction projects to ensure documentation of contract pay items and compliance with plan requirements and the Standard Specifications for Construction of Airports and Contract Special Provisions.
  • Checks final contract pay quantities and prepares and submits final papers on completed contracts to initiate final payment to contractors.
  • Provides guidance to contractors, other bureaus within the division, state, and consultant resident engineers and resident technicians to ensure that documentation is in compliance with established procedures.
  • Prepares and updates the Airport Construction Documentation Manual.
  • Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum PLUS five years of engineering experience, OR seven years of engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in construction related projects.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Experience in auditing of construction projects.
  • Experience with construction and materials management software systems.
  • Familiarity within the airport environment.
