
Senior Business Manager, New Business Development

- Responsible for achieving new business development plans through new customer identification and acquisition.
- Manages plans for assigned retailer accounts, including: (1) product distribution, (2) shelf and perimeter merchandising, (3) pricing objectives, and (4) promotional plans.
- Develops effective annual customer plans (product, price, promotion, and place) that deliver the agreed annual sales plan.
- Provides quarterly and annual customer forecasts (pounds and dollars) to maximize procurement, manufacturing, and logistics efficiencies.
- Fosters collaborative partnerships with all retail accounts.
- Uses the customer leadership model to earn trust, create direction, drive alignment, execute with excellence, and deliver results.
- Collaborate with internal functional partners (marketing, operations, R&D, etc.) during the business development process.
- Ensures timely and accurate completion of all action plans.
- Develop all presentations and business reviews for customer meetings.
- Coordinates support from others to ensure presentations are effective and meet expectations.
- Leads and manages broker partnerships.
- Provides clear direction and feedback, using quarterly scorecards to hold brokers accountable for headquarter and retail results.
- Monitors and analyzes in-store market conditions for all accounts by category, including JBSS and competitive items.
- Reviews product, price, promotion, and placement activities.
- Manages trade spending investments to achieve maximum effectiveness within the assigned budget.
- Anticipates problems and opportunities to protect current business and capture incremental growth with retail accounts.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.
- Five to eight years of extensive sales management experience across multiple trade channels, including broker management.
- Direct account experience with large national retailers is required.
- Broker sales experience as a regional manager in one or more companies is preferred.
- This position requires approximately 60%-70% travel.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and develop compelling presentations.
- Experience in key account management, sales training, brand management, or internal staff functions is a plus.
