Position Title: Program Manager - Plaza ClubhouseCompany Description: NAMI San Diego & Imperial Counties (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is a nonprofit organization that provides free education, support services, and advocacy to improve the quality of life of everyone affected by mental illnesses.Program Description: NAMI San Diego Clubhouses operate under the Clubhouse International Model for psychosocial rehabilitation, with the goal of empowering adults living with mental illness to live vocationally meaningful and socially satisfying lives. Our program provides a uniquely supportive and collaborative Clubhouse setting where Members (program participants) and staff work together to operate all aspects of the organization in an atmosphere built on the principles of mutual respect and caring.Primary Responsibilities/Function: The Program Manager is responsible for the overall operation of The Plaza Clubhouse in Chula Vista and ensures adherence to program deliverables and effective implementation of the Clubhouse International Model. The Program Manager will oversee business and administrative planning, effective use of resources, staff supervision and development, program reporting, and evaluation of progress towards deliverables. Assure program integrity and fidelity to International Clubhouse Standards, ensuring the highest quality of services are provided.Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for overall program operations, including fiscal and administrative management, risk management, quality assurance, contract compliance and development/implementation of policy and procedures.
  • Provide leadership and vision to the Clubhouse members and staff, upholding the integrity of the Clubhouse International Model.
  • Oversee quality of all program components, including Work Ordered Day programming, employment and education services, community support, social opportunities, and SSI Advocacy.
  • Provide regular leadership and supervision to staff. Oversee hiring and retaining quality employees and facilitating their professional growth and development.
  • On an ongoing basis, ensure that there is significant and meaningful participation of Clubhouse members in all aspects of the Clubhouse organization, maximizing members' skills, talents, engagement and leadership.
  • Oversees facilities and safe work environment by ensuring equipment is in good operating condition and maintaining a clean and neat workplace.
  • Participate in Transitional Employment Development and strengthen employer relationships for the Clubhouse. Fill in as needed for transitional employment sites.
  • Collaborate with community partners and Advisory Board members to promote the growth and development of the Clubhouse and its standards.
  • Communicate in a timely fashion with the COR via all of the following: mail, email, fax, telephone, and voice mail.
  • Participate in scheduled provider meetings to further the development of an integrated system of care.
  • Review/monitor data collection and reporting, ensuring required documentation adherence.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in cultural and linguistic competency, co-occurring and gender responsiveness and trauma-informed care practices.
  • Participate in Clubhouse evening, weekend, and holiday events, and model positive relationship building.
  • Complete all trainings in a timely manner as required by NAMI San Diego in accordance with our program contract. This may include an out-of-state, two-week comprehensive training on the Clubhouse International Model.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Experience as a mental health care advocate for self or family members is strongly preferred.
  • A strong positive viewpoint towards mental health is essential.
  • Bilingual - English/Spanish highly preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field preferred (Social Work, Psychology, Community, Education, Advocacy/Activism) or clearly demonstrated equivalent work experience in the field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in a non-profit setting.
  • Significant experience working with homeless populations, individuals with mental illness and/or substance use disorders.
  • Ability and willingness to mentor and motivate with strong training skills.
  • Excellent planning, organizing, analyzing, problem solving, time management, coordinating, and detail-oriented skills.
  • Familiarity with budget management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations, plus the ability and desire to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to keep confidential information confidential and discrete.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills. Ability to present to, community groups, employees, members, and Advisory Board. Attentive listener.

  • Ability to drive with a valid driver's license, auto insurance, and access to use of an automobile as needed.
  • Reliable and consistent attendance and transportation.
  • Proficient in using computers, computer software (Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel), and web navigation.
