In short, We Enable Possibility℠.Position Summary:Responsible for leading a team of underwriting professionals, as well as overseeing the technical underwriting and account management of Middle Market Property and Casualty accounts targeting the Real Estate, Hospitality, Manufacturing, and Healthcare industries. This role includes collaborating with retail brokers to attract and retain these accounts.Responsibilities and Accountabilities:Lead a team of underwriting professionals to effectively manage a portfolio of new and renewal business in accordance with our strategy and profitability goals.Mentor and lead team in negotiating pricing, terms and conditions commensurate with risk quality and loss experience.Build and sustain meaningful broker relationships for given territory with consistent visibility and accessibility to these trading partners.Augment training conducted by Chief Underwriting Office to ensure team members are knowledgeable and capable in their respective roles.Effectively manage referrals from team members within your grant of underwriting authority in a decisive and timely fashion.Source and hire new employees as needed and consistently performance manage team members to develop their skills for larger responsibilities.Required Skills and AbilitiesMentor and develop team members to profitably underwrite and manage their portfolio.Ensure that underwriting decisions comply with our governance framework including underwriting authority, pricing tools and rules and regulations mandated by Department of Insurance personnel.Stay apprised of changing market conditions to both seize opportunities and/or minimize risk in alignment with profitability goals.In parallel with Distribution colleagues, represent Arch Underwriters, Inc. in a positive and professional manner while expecting the same from team members.Establish positive working relationships both externally with broker and insureds while also maintaining positive relationship with colleagues in Operations, Engineering and Claims to meet or exceed customer expectations.Motivate and inspire team members to be students of the package underwriting business while also modeling a culture where learning and development is core value.Communication & Presentation – ability to express ideas and messages in a clear and concise fashion both written and verbal.Influence Skills – ability to persuade and motivate others to be prepared and decisive in their day to day work.Leading Others – ability to effectively lead others and delegate assignments while holding people accountable for positive results.Technical Knowledge – have the requisite knowledge and skills to utilize pricing tools and underwriting authority to make informed and appropriate decisions leading to profitable results.Education and Experience:Four-year college degree, preferably in Business, Economics or Legal.Ten years of prior underwriting experience in middle market or large commercial casualty UW business.#LI-AM3#LI-HybridFor individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below, the base salary range is provided. Position is incentive eligible.$150,200 - $233,185/yearTotal individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs.
