Even if you don't feel that you meet every requirement listed in this job description, we still encourage you to apply.About the Inventory Management TeamYou will be part of the Inventory Planning organization is responsible for the strategic planning of inventory positions to drive sales, manage inventory turn and meet or exceed financial targets for your area of responsibility. Inventory associates are innovators, optimizers and problem solvers who are constantly seeking opportunities to move the business forward. You will collaborate with other business functions to support a product strategy intended to meet our customer's needs.Overview of the Manager, Inventory Management roleYou will be responsible for delivering a best-in-class customer experience through the strategic management of inventory for a division within the Williams-Sonoma, Inc. portfolio. You will partner with the Merchandising, Sourcing, and E-commerce teams to maximize sales and in-stocks, optimize inventory turn, and drive profitable growth.Responsibilities
  • Pre-Season Planning
  • Assist Director in developing the annual, tops-down merchandise plans for the division.
  • Oversee the creation of pre-season, item-level sales plans that align with product rankings, merchandising strategies and tops-down financial goals.
  • Support team in designing inventory strategies that balance the composition of new and core, carry-over merchandise and that support in-stock and turn objectives.
  • Manage divisional open-to-buy. Ensure that all departments fit within the bounds of the division's receipt budget and allocated DC capacity.
  • Leverage historical data to identify key learnings around product, pricing, and inventory and apply learnings to future seasons.
  • In-Season Planning
  • Lead monthly open-to-buy activities for the division. Identify and execute near term actions to achieve sales goals and budgeted inventory EOMs.
  • Oversee in-season, item level forecasting and ad-hoc analysis to identify inventory-related risks and opportunities for chase. Ensure alignment with tops-down, monthly forecast.
  • Recommend divisional strategies around promotional pricing and end-of-life disposition. Ensure that departmental actions maximize sales and margin and balances inventory for total division.
  • Identify business trends that warrant analytical research provide framework for teams to investigate.
  • Leadership & Collaboration
  • Play a leadership role in creating a people-first culture that is innovative, results-oriented, and that celebrates success.
  • Oversee the career and skill development of a team of Merchandise Planners with a focus on training, retention, and building bench strength.
  • Play an active role in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of new team members.
  • Balance and prioritize team's workload to ensure they are set up for success.
  • Collaborate with cross-channel planning partner to create a seamless brand experience and ensure customer is at the center of everything we do.
  • Develop strong cross-functional partnerships with Merchandising, Sourcing, and E-commerce teams.
  • Participate in the development of scalable planning tools, processes, and reporting and encourage sharing of best-practice to ensure consistency.
  • Operate a computer and communicate via telephone
  • Transport materials and equipment and lift, move, and carry objects up to 50 pounds on a limited basis
Criteria
  • Strong forecasting, financial, analytical and system skills
  • Experience
  • Running OTB and developing strategies
  • With top-line and bottoms-up planning
  • Working and communicating cross-functionally with other departments
  • 2+ years people management experience
  • 5+ years planning and inventory management in a retail company
  • Ability to perform work onsite in the San Francisco office full-time pending state, local, and Company return-to-work guidance during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
