Our Mission, Vision, and Values guide the way we do business.Are you ready for your next career challengeThe National Security Sector at Leidos, supporting the Overload/Medium Unmanned Surface Vessel (O/MUSV) Program, is seeking Qualified Member of the Engineering Department (QMED) to support a dynamic high growth organization. The O/MUSV program is based in Port Hueneme, CA, and is responsible for delivering cutting edge autonomous vessel technology to the US Navy. The program operates and maintains prototype autonomous vessels for test and evaluation of the vessels as well as developing operations, maintenance, logistics and training procedures for the autonomous Fleet of the future.The Qualified Member of the Engineering Department will participate in innovative technological advances onboard unmanned surface vessels (USV). This individual will be part of a 7 person crew rotation onboard a USV during testing and evaluation. The QMED will travel and work onboard USV at sea and in port operating and maintaining the USV and support vessels.Duties include primary responsibility for the USV propulsion system underway, in addition to preparation, preservation, and cleanliness of navy watercraft, and pre/post mission craft readiness functions. Provides basic facility maintenance support and cleaning duties. Crew will work rotating shifts of 28 days on and 28 days off.Primary ResponsibilitiesReport to USV Chief Engineer and Deputy Port Captain for pier side and afloat USV operations.Take responsibility for first-line maintenance and repairs of USV propulsion system. Perform scheduled and corrective maintenance, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and automated control systems.Participate in basic seamanship duties and capable of performing as line handler, watch stander and ship's crew as required.Stand 12 hour long engineering watch daily.Assist in preparation, preservation, and cleanliness of O/MUSV ship, and any associated equipment.Assist in pre/post mission craft readiness functions.May assist in vessel security and visitor control function.Participate in Leidos and Government safety programs.This position will require close cooperation and working relationships with active-duty military and other Government personnel.Basic QualificationsPosition requires the ability to perform in an arduous duty environmentUSCG Merchant Mariner credentials as QMEDSTCW RFPEWHigh school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years prior relevant experiencePrevious experience performing basic seamanship dutiesFamiliarity with small boat operation, basic small craft maintenance, line handling, and launching/recovering from trailersAbility to lift 40lbsIndividuals must possess the ability and demeanor to share common spaces over lengthy deployment periods and work closely with others in a small working area and in a shipboard environment * Must be a US CitizenPreferred QualificationsPrior US military service, preferably Coast Guard or Navy and on a Surface platform.Must be able to communicate effectivelyEIO2024Original Posting Date: 2024-04-11While subject to change based on business needs, Leidos reasonably anticipates that this job requisition will remain open for at least 3 days with an anticipated close date of no earlier than 3 days after the original posting date as listed above.Pay Range: Pay Range $48,100.00 - $86,950.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
