As the Senior Transit Account Representative, you will be responsible for providing professional accounting support to the Sales and Customer Service Section. You will act as the liaison between Accountants, Accounts Receivable, and the Pass Sales Office. To thrive in this role, you need superb customer service skills, the ability to problem-solve, experience communicating effectively with a diverse population and the desire to work collaboratively with other work groups.This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) Senior Transit Account Representative. In addition, this selection process may be used to generate an eligibility pool for future career service, special duty assignment, TLT (Term Limited Temporary) or STT (Short Term Temporary) vacancies that may occur in this classification within this workgroup. The eligibility pool will be retained for 12 months from the date of posting and may be used at the discretion of the hiring authority.Job DutiesApplying principles is a daily responsibility and a foundational expectation for all King County employees. As a Senior Transit Account Representative, you will:
  • Respond to questions and concerns from the general public regarding King County's transit customer services and all fare media.
  • Maintain accounts receivable records and customer accounts.
  • Train new Pass Sale Office employees in office operations and procedures. Assign, schedule, oversee, and review the work performed by Pass Sales Representatives for accuracy and completeness.
  • In a lead capacity, will be responsible for the daily preparation of cash sales drawers and cash balance reports and monthly sales reports.
  • Accurately account for, balance and maintain Fare Media Inventory each month.
  • Maintain the security of all Fare Media inventory, posting journal records, sales receipts and related records, including petty cash funds and customer refunds.
  • Locate and correct errors in office accounting journals and reports, responsible for entry of sales and other data into a computer terminal.
  • Act independently in the absence of supervisory staff to resolve operational and difficult customer assistance problems in the pass sales office.
  • Work with customers and central accounting to troubleshoot problems as necessary.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and analysis, including end of month/year adjustments and reconciliations. Raise problems to the attention of section management and develop additional financial analysis as needed.
  • Provide advice and consultation to section staff and customers regarding customer service and accounting/financial issues.
  • Recommend modifications to accounting procedures as needed to ensure procedural efficiencies and to ensure adherence to professional accounting standards.
  • Document department procedures and alterations as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, SkillsMinimum qualifications for Senior Transit Account Representative include the following:
At least two years of experience as a Pass Sales Representative with accounting experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Other requirements include:
  • Demonstrated experience promoting fairness, respect, inclusiveness, integrity, and ethical conduct in the workplace.
  • Demonstrated technical skills including but not limited to proficiency in MS Office and the ability to learn new systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of developing and utilizing tracking systems, data collection and analysis, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated skill in customer support and relations, and in the ability to communicate with diverse audiences in a tactful, diplomatic and sensitive manner.
  • Strong attention to details, as well as the ability to see how they fit into larger goals and objectives
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively build and sustain positive relationships with people from diverse cultural, professional and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated skill in training, teaching and providing effective direction to others.
  • Excellent oral and verbal communication skills and the ability to tactfully navigate sensitive topics
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Lead or supervisory experience, preferably in an accounting or customer relations capacity.
  • Experience with Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS)

The work week is normally 40 hours, Monday through Friday. Alternative work schedules may be possible. This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and therefore is not eligible for overtime pay.Work Location
