The Manager of Transportation Services is responsible for overseeing all aspects of OVGI’s non-medical transportation operations. This includes managing a vehicle fleet, comprised of vans and wheel-chair accessible buses, coordinating route planning, hiring and supervising drivers, maintaining regulatory compliance (including DOT), and ensuring consistent, safe, and accessible transportation for individuals across OVGI programs.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Operations, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years of transportation or fleet management experience.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in accessible transportation preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required.
  • Must obtain DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate within 60 days of hire.
  • Familiarity with ADA transportation standards preferred.
SUPERVISOR QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and fleet scheduling software.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to lead and coach teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to safety, equity, and service excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Fleet Management
  • Oversee vehicle usage, tracking, inspections, and registration.
  • Monitor fleet capacity and recommend upgrades or replacements.
  • Maintain licensing, insurance, and inventory records.
Route Planning & Coordination
  • Develop efficient transportation schedules and routes.
  • Optimize routes using technology to improve service and reduce costs.
  • Coordinate with programs to ensure timely service delivery.
Driver Supervision
  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise a team of drivers.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and customer service expectations.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and safety audits.
Vehicle Maintenance & Safety
  • Schedule regular maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, services, and incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and ADA regulations.
Budgeting & Reporting
  • Assist in transportation budget development.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide monthly reporting.
  • Recommend process improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
Cross-Department Collaboration
  • Work with internal teams to align transportation services with program needs.
  • Support emergency response logistics and continuity plans.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Combination of office and fieldwork.
  • Regular travel to multiple OVGI locations required.
  • Occasional early morning, evening, or weekend work may be necessary.
  • Physical ability to perform vehicle inspections and support emergency operations
