Batching Supervisor (liquid bottling)

- Maintain accurate inventory of batching and extraction materials.
- Conduct CIP (Clean-In-Place) verifications, validations, and review CIP records.
- Lead safety training and participate in safety meetings.
- Develop and maintain staffing plans for batching and extraction.
- Review daily batching and extraction records for accuracy and compliance.
- Train employees on batching methods, procedures, and sanitation practices.
- Schedule incoming mineral water and grape juice tankers.
- Serve as Spill Prevention Coordinator.
- Conduct monthly and bi-monthly material inventories.
- Monitor wastewater systems, review charts and logs, and ensure compliance with city and state requirements (including BC Labs testing).
- Oversee operation and maintenance of water softeners.
- Collect Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for raw materials and evaluate results.
- Oversee preventative maintenance (PM) and repairs of batching equipment.
- Ensure proper housekeeping of batching areas and grounds.
- Serve as first responder for wastewater alarms (24/7 coverage).
- Perform product sensory evaluations and calculate additive adjustments.
- Record and log scrap and hold reports related to batching and tea processing.
- Address and investigate customer complaints regarding product quality.
- Ensure timely calibration of batching-related equipment (recorders, flow meters, sensors, etc.).
- Technical & Analytical Skills: Strong knowledge of batching processes, CIP systems, wastewater monitoring, and production equipment.
- Leadership & Supervisory Skills: Ability to coach, develop, and hold employees accountable.
- Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Identifies root causes, develops solutions, and makes timely decisions.
- Communication Skills: Clear written and oral communication, including technical reporting.
- Safety & Compliance Focus: Knowledge of OSHA, wastewater regulations, and internal safety programs.
- Planning & Organization: Strong time management, ability to balance multiple priorities, and scheduling efficiency.
- Associate's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field preferred. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One to two years of related batching/production experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior supervisory experience in a food/beverage manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret business journals, technical procedures, and regulations.
- Ability to write clear reports, business correspondence, and SOPs.
- Comfortable presenting information to groups of employees and management.
- Strong understanding of ratios, percentages, statistical calculations, and production metrics.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts to batching adjustments and quality control.
- Ability to apply common sense in standardized and non-standardized situations.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for both equipment and process issues.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and manufacturing software.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., AS400 or equivalent) and payroll/timekeeping systems preferred.
