- Ensure implementation and compliance of S32 Health and Hygiene standards aligned with Hermosa risk profile.
- Ensure compliance with South32 governance in relation to health and hygiene as well as MSHA and OSHA requirements.
- Assess risks and implement critical controls related to chemical, physical, and biological hazards
- Provide consultation and coaching to all employee groups with a purpose of instilling and maintaining a pro-active approach to Health, wellbeing and hygiene in all areas
- Facilitate and participate in project induction processes aligned with project training scheme where required
- Coordinate and conduct required familiarization and educational programs related to Health, Hygiene and injury management.
- Provide Safety leadership by example with supporting project objectives in field and developing positive relationships
- Support post injury care framework with Human resources as partner.
- Support onboarding medical proforma, including minimum acceptable health parameters and align to Human resources development plan.
- Monitor and action blood levels for heavy metals on pre, periodic and post medicals for employees while ensuring HIPAA legal compliance.
- Partner with contractors' representatives to align expectations of health and wellbeing.
- Deliver proactive health care and wellness initiatives.
- Schedule and record medical evaluations of employees
- Actively carry out sampling activities and analyse hygiene data throughout project work areas
- Support Hermosa's EAP and drug and alcohol prevention programs in conjunction with HR dept.
- Support HSS dept administration requirements where necessary.
- Monitor and organize HSS SharePoint Hub for areas of Health and wellbeing.
- High School Diploma
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act of 1977
- Data interpretation skills from various monitoring methods and locations
- Technical risk management techniques to align with S32 risk framework.
- Track record in developing and applying contractor management systems including assurance tasks preferred.
- Ability to develop positive relationships with all levels of organization to support a culture of care.
- Ability to manage electronic management systems including report generation.
- Planning and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills-both oral and written
- Sound understanding of safety, health, and environment requirements associated with mining
- Experience using Microsoft Office products
- Positive, can-do attitude.
- Bi-lingual (English, Spanish)
