
ITINERANT CHILD NUTRITION PROGRAMS ASSISTANT MANAGER

- Supervise child nutrition workers/assistants in the school food service operation; including USDA breakfast/lunch, after school snacks, approved special functions or other food service needs.
- Supervise the preparation of menus as directed or approved by the child nutrition programs director and assists in meal preparation when necessary.
- Order food and supplies as assigned through the central office.
- Maintain records as necessary for accountability.
- Train and evaluate child nutrition staff at the direction and/or approval of the child nutrition programs manager or supervisor.
- Ensure compliance with safety and health regulations as established by federal, state, and local agencies.
- Participate in all managers’ training programs and staff meetings.
- Follow recommendations of child nutrition programs director in matters of program operations.
- Have a working knowledge of computer systems or manual registers at assigned school.
- Obtain approved substitutes for staff on leave.
- Interview and recommend candidates for employment as child nutrition assistant worker/assistant and cashier.
- Supervise the cleaning of the kitchen, serving line, storage, and dining areas; checks all cafeteria equipment for safety and cleanliness and notifies appropriate authorities when repairs and/or replacements are needed.
- Evaluate child nutrition programs staff according to criteria and documents approved by the Board of Education.
- Ensure all child nutrition programs staff (worker/assistants and cashiers) wears the selected uniform for the school.
- Perform duties in a manner that promotes good public relations.
- Maintain confidentiality of any school system related business.
- Be familiar with and follow Board of Education policies.
- Maintain proper and professional relationship with students and other employees.
- Perform managerial duties at assigned or alternate site in the absence of the child nutrition programs manager.
- Perform related child nutrition program duties as assigned by the principal, director, area supervisor, or child nutrition programs manager.
- Use current technology for instruction and management purposes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to compile and analyze data, interpret the laws, policies, and regulations pertaining to the work.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Effective oral and written communication.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must be willing to travel from school to school as needed.
- Experience in institutional food preparation, including one year supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Possess or be able to obtain a Serv-Safe Certification according to the requirements set forth by the Jefferson County Health Department.
