
Special Inspector

- Perform testing on materials including reinforced concrete, structural steel, and welding inspection.
- Inspect and review construction sites and construction material for compliance with life and safety requirements.
- Coordinate and interact with contractors in the field.
- Write daily field reports documenting work performed by various contractors and indicating compliance or non-compliance with contract documents.
- Coordinate with the department manager regarding the progress of projects.
- Transport material samples with associated identifying documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis.
- Prepare and submit data and observations in the form of written and digital reports for daily transmittal to the Project Manager.
- Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
- Assist with scheduling and dispatch of Technicians to project sites.
- Adhere to strict safety standards.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs to transport material samples, and move nuclear densometer.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in inspection and non-destructive testing.
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
- ASNT Level II Ultrasonic Testing certification preferred.
- Experience with laptop computer use and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- ACI certification in one or more areas such as Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I or Concrete Strength Testing Technician.
- Certified in radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable violation history.
- ICC certification in one or more categories such as Reinforced Concrete, Spray-applied Fireproofing, Structural Masonry, Prestressed/Post-Tensioned Concrete, Structural Steel – Bolting, Structural Steel – Welding.
- Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
- Other national, regional, state, and local materials-related certifications requiring experience and written examination will be considered.
