- Directly supervises employees in the specialty chemicals manufacturing setting.
- Assure regulatory compliance, including environmental and process safety, and a safe workplace for all employees. Address hazards, deviations, and injuries in a timely manner.
- Analyzes production to estimate worker hours and create production schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
- Responsible for start-up, shutdown and normal process operation to include manual operation of the process using field controls.
- Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety standards. Identifies and reports or resolves hazards.
- Directs response to emergency situations to include emergency shutdown procedures.
- Coaches and counsels operations personnel in the assignment of duties.
- Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
- Inspects and measures product to verify conformance to specifications. Utilizes quality control system, SPC and response charts to implement corrective actions in a timely manner.
- Analyzes and resolves production issues to include enforcing labor relation's policies and resolving grievances.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a laboratory environment with highly hazardous materials
- Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials
- Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
- Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 3+ year's supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Must be able to work 12-hour shift work to include both days, nights and weekends.
- Demonstrated experience with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work.
- Previous experience with appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and conflict resolution
- Demonstrated leadership ability to direct and motivate employees
- Demonstrated ability to act in a safe manner and teach employees on safety standards.
