Lurie Children's Hospital of ChicagoJob DescriptionThe Nursing Informatics Practitioner is a registered nurse who provides the coordination and integration of information systems into nursing workflows.The NI practitioner role supports information quality improvement, high reliability, and clinical excellence strategies.The NI specialist facilitates this work through assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical applications and systems and technologies staff.Essential Job Functions:
Serves to update and enhance nursing and patient care workflows utilizing clinical information systems. These enhancements to clinical applications include but are not limited to Electronic Health Record Documentation systems and its’ monitoring, life safety, and middleware integrations
Monitors and updates internal clinical resources and information sites (i.e. manuals, policy and procedure).
Coordinates and collaborates in processes/activities to accomplish system lifecycle monitoring, maintenance, and continuous improvements from a clinical improvement perspective.
Serves as a knowledgeable member on continuous improvement initiatives contributing workflow, data, and best evidence-based practices for the utilization of clinical systems.
Advances clinical information documentation systems through serving as a knowledgeable practice expert and resource regarding clinical practices as it relates to information systems.
Improves clinical workflows and systems through the institution of quality improvement strategies, maintaining performances standards, and providing leaders/clinicians with data, and evidence for decision-making.
Participates in the development of informational technologies that utilize patient and client data to support clinical decision-making in nursing practice.
Performs key system functions by collaborating with key stakeholders to enhance and improve safety and the quality of clinical practice.
Serves a key role in assembling educational updates to advance the spread of information related to changes in workflows/clinical systems.
Measures and evaluates the outputs of assigned information systems and publishes reports to leadership.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidate should be a licensed Registered Professional Nurse within the State of Illinois that possesses two to three years nursing experience with at least one year of nursing mentorship/supervision experience.
Candidate should possess a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing with certification in pediatric or nursing informatics preferred.
Able to handle multiple projects and support multiple systems and able to prioritize tasks.
