A well-established manufacturing company in the Chattanooga area is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and continuous improvement of specialized mechanical equipment. This position will contribute to both new product innovation and the refinement of existing product lines, playing a lead role in engineering execution, prototyping, and cross-functional collaboration from concept through production.Key Responsibilities:Perform complex mechanical engineering work requiring advanced technical expertiseDevelop concepts for new products and features based on market feedback, customer input, and cross-functional collaboration—including occasional site visits for field validationUse CAD tools, FEA, and simulation software to create and verify models; lead prototype builds and product testingApply DFSS and other design methodologies to ensure customer needs are reflected in design solutionsCreate and manage project plans, timelines, and resource allocations for engineering work from ideation through launchPresent technical concepts to internal stakeholders for review and approvalCollaborate closely with manufacturing and quality teams to ensure designs are production-ready and cost-effectiveSupport pilot runs and oversee a smooth handoff from engineering to productionProvide ongoing engineering support for existing product lines as neededQualifications:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (MBA a plus)Proven background in mechanical product development within a heavy manufacturing settingExperience managing multiple projects from concept to launchStrong knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and mechanical design standardsSkilled in CAD modeling, FEA, and data-driven design decisionsStrong verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate across departmentsComfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on engineering environment
