Every project is planned and executed in a way that best fits each client’s needs while reducing costs.Key Role & ResponsibilitiesAccumark is seeking a qualified and motivated SUE Surveyor II to join our Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) team. This position plays a critical role in independently performing utility surveys, operating various types of surveying equipment and occasional operating electromagnetic locating equipment, and producing precise utility mapping in accordance with ASCE 38-22 standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in field data collection, utility identification, and LiDAR scanning of overhead and below-ground utility structures.
  • Conduct field surveys independently for subsurface utilities and overhead power lines.
  • Operate and interpret data from electromagnetic locators, GPS receivers, and total stations.
  • Perform LiDAR scans of overhead wires for clearance verification and spatial mapping.
  • Use LiDAR scanning to map manholes and underground utility structures.
  • Assist SUE Technicians in utility potholing, depth verification, and utility documentation when needed.
  • Utilize total stations and GNSS equipment for accurate georeferencing of utility features.
  • Lead small field crews and train entry-level surveyors on utility data collection techniques.
  • Willingness to travel, including overnight.
Requirements
  • 2–10 years of experience in SUE or land surveying
  • Proficiency with electromagnetic locators, GNSS, and total stations
  • Familiar with LiDAR scanning and APWA codes
  • Understanding of basic coordinate geometry and survey workflows
  • Ability to interpret utility markings, codes, and attribute data
  • Prepare daily project reports for every project and continual productivity reporting
  • Perform quality control checks to ensure utility locations and LiDAR scans are accurate
  • Implement traffic control and work zone safety procedures when working near roadways
  • Maintain company vehicle cleanliness and routine preventative maintenance
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications
  • DOT/municipal project experience
  • OSHA certifications
  • Previous involvement in SUE or utility mapping projects
  • Comfort working both independently and within a collaborative team
