
3rd shift Manufacturing Machining Technician

- Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling etc.
- Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function
- Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines
- Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications
- Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate large number of parts
- Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result
- Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly
- Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality
- Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Ability to read and interpret CMM data and prints.
- Programs CNC machines by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
- Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.
- Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.
- Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
- Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.

- 1 to 3 years of experience in high volume precision machining environment
- General understanding of manufacturing processes and thorough knowledge of lathe tooling/programming
- Recognize tool paths by interpreting the program (G and M codes)
- Experience with making tool path offsets
- Machine set-ups and change-overs
- Ability to train associates on machining standards
- Troubleshoot daily production problems through root cause analysis techniques as they occur
- Develop machining processes for new products
- Coordinate engineering changes
- Participate in continuous improvement processes
- Maintains safety and good housekeeping standards
- Adhere to Corporate policies and procedures.
- Ability to work side by side with outside vendors in an effort to reduce production and tooling costs.
