- Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of all GAAP and Statutory financial reporting.
- Provide oversight for the day-to-day operations of accounting functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Grant Billing, and cash reconciliations.
- Direct the monthly financial close process and prepare internal financial reporting for leadership.
- Lead the development and management of the annual operating and capital budgets.
- Monitor budget performance, provide regular reports to management, and conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and manage cash flow to ensure organizational stability.
- Coordinate and manage all activities related to external audits, preparing necessary financial statements and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local tax laws, including the preparation and filing of Form 990.
- Oversee grant accounting and reporting, ensuring strict compliance with all grant terms and conditions.
- Disseminate monthly financial results to departmental leaders, promoting financial transparency and accountability.
- Act as a collaborative partner to other departments, providing financial expertise and support to ensure efficient operations and sound decision-making.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve financial literacy across the organization.
- Cultivate a strong, high-performing accounting team by providing mentorship, clear performance goals, and professional development opportunities.
- Lead succession planning efforts within the finance department to ensure continuity of critical functions and leadership.
- Identify and nurture talent, empowering team members to take on new challenges and grow their skills.

- Lead change management initiatives for finance-related projects, such as system upgrades (e.g., to PeopleSoft), new lines of business, or regulatory changes.
- Monitor and refine the organization's Chart of Accounts and financial system architecture to enhance reporting clarity and efficiency.
- Champion process improvements, identifying and implementing solutions that streamline workflows and increase accuracy.
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
- CPA or CMA certification is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive accounting experience, with at least five (5) in the nonprofit sector.
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience.
- Deep understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., PeopleSoft) and financial analysis tools.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively.
