- Educate and transition nursing and medical staff to usage of protocols for better patient outcomes and perioperative throughput
- Facilitate teamwork amongst all perioperative areas
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Preferred Experience: At least one or more year(s) of service within a Perioperative Department field of nursing, Critical Care or Telemetry
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (R.N) licensure permitting practice in South Carolina
- American Heart Association Certification as follow per Perioperative Department:
- BLS, ACLS, PALS
- Hold a certification with the Perioperative Department field of nursing:
- PACU; CPAN/CAPA
- Active member in a Perioperative Department Nursing associates such as: AORN, ASPAN, SGNA, ARIN
- Ability to Administer and evaluate pharmacological and other therapeutic treatment regimens within the limitations of licensure and institutional policy
- Ability to assess assigned patientsâ medical history, admitting diagnosis and physicianâs orders, evaluating diagnostic data, and interviewing patient and family to determine patient needs
- Assures continuity of care through effective decision-making resulting in quality patient care
- Collaborates and works cooperatively with surgeons and other members of the multidisciplinary health care team to ensure efficient perioperative throughput
- Collaborates with patients, families, and other members of the health care team to assess and determine patient priorities and treatments
- Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate infection prevention strategies to prevent surgical site infection
- Documents all aspects of patient care by following established charting procedure to show the patientâs progress or any change in the patientâs condition
- Identifies appropriate standards of care, and/or collaborative clinical pathways to guide the plan of care
- Initiates and facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance outcome
- Possesses knowledge of the peri-operative and post-operative care needed including dynamic drug therapies for pain management and competency in documentation, assessment and monitoring
- Follows current guidelines and care methodologies including ERAS
- Assesses patient condition and care needs and implements a plan of care to meet needs, reduce and control pain, and provide expected outcomes.
- Providing health education, procedural teaching and discharge education to patients and significant others
- Provide quality care in accordance with the Standards devised and distributed via American Society of Peri-Anesthesia Nurses
