Houston Classical is founded on the idea that scholars can learn at a high level notwithstanding their zip code or background.Mission of Houston ClassicalHouston Classical’s mission is to ensure all scholars PreK-8 are successful through a classical approach, rigorous academics, character development, and structured environment to ensure success in high school, college and in life.The RoleHouston Classical is seeking an After-School Program Teacher/Clerk to support academic activities, ensure scholar safety, and assist with front office tasks like check-in/check-out and attendance tracking.Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support the daily operations of the after-school program by assisting with scholar check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring accurate attendance records.
- Maintain consistent and accurate headcounts throughout program hours to support safety and accountability.
- Assist in front office tasks related to the after-school program, such as answering parent inquiries, managing sign-out logs, and directing visitors as needed.
- Monitor transitions between activities and help manage hallway or playground supervision to ensure scholar safety.
- Provide academic support by assisting scholars with homework, reinforcing key concepts, and encouraging independent learning.
- Lead or co-lead structured, engaging enrichment activities (academic, creative, or recreational) that promote student curiosity and participation.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment where scholars feel supported and safe.
- Communicate regularly with program leadership about scholar behavior, participation, and any incidents or needs that arise.
- Recognize and respond to individual learning and behavioral needs, offering redirection or enrichment as appropriate.
- Follow all safety guidelines, emergency protocols, and school policies to ensure a secure environment at all times.
- Previous experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting is preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to create a supportive, engaging, and respectful learning environment.
- Ability to address the diverse needs of scholars and provide individualized attention.
