We're looking to expand our team with diverse and collaborative doers who believe in our mission and the transformative power of affordable, high-quality education.We are looking for a Senior Accountant to become a key member of the Finance team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys finding new solutions, thrives in a fast paced environment, and has a knack for detail. We are looking for someone with experience in Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) revenue recognition, contract management and general ledger activities. This person's primary work experience will be in the commercial sector, not in the federal contracting or non-profit sectors. We are already highly transaction-driven and use automation and innovation to drive operational efficiencies. This person embraces technology, tools and process to get tasks done accurately and timely. We are a start-up, so this person likes a fast-paced environment and views change as an opportunity, not an issue.Work Location: Washington, DC (Remote Okay)Responsibilities will include:
  • Manage revenue recognition
  • Perform month end close - transactions, reconciliations, journal entries and schedules
  • Assist with evaluating and implementing new tools and processes
  • Prepare monthly management reports
  • Other ad hoc duties as needed
What we are looking for:
  • Solid understanding of GAAP accounting principles, especially ASC 606
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills
  • Impeccable integrity, ethics, and confidentiality
  • Ability to identify and escalate business issues
  • 3+ years of accounting experience demonstrating increasing responsibility and scope
  • Experience with Quickbooks and Excel
  • Established right to work in the US
