
Principal Flight Avionics Section Leader

- Provide guidance, coaching, and leadership to engineers within the section to ensure effective communications and program execution.
- Ensure appropriate staff development through effective performance management, including goal setting, career development, compensation, employee learning, and developmental task assignments.
- Provide engineering oversight to programs supported by the section through the planning and leadership of project design reviews and peer reviews, including technical briefings to internal leadership and external customers.
- Lead and manage section staff, recruiting, hiring, retaining, and developing effective engineers and engineering leaders.
- Create, capture, and analyze metrics to manage associated organizational and program performance.
- This 1st shift role will be 100% on-site and based in Tucson, AZ.
- Typically requires Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM), Physics or related engineering degree and a minimum 8 years’ of prior related work experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum 6 years’ of prior related work experience.
- Work experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Analog, digital, and power electronics design, integration, and production support
- RF product and subassembly design, integration, and production support
- Electro Optical product and subassembly design, integration, and production support
- Experience in design compliance during design / development and production.
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or related engineering degree.
- Knowledge and experience leading a multi-disciplined team.
- Systems engineering thought process with analytical skills background.
- Able to network / influence outside of the Flight Avionics Section with other design and production support organizations, program leadership, other engineering disciplines and Manufacturing organizations.
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively with peers, suppliers, management, and customers in a production environment.
- Proven experience in balancing engineering process discipline and innovation for rapid development and program success.
- Ability to effectively work multiple tasks and priorities.
- Experience with EVMS, development of budgets, task planning milestone development, and budget management.
- Experience utilizing cost, schedule and performance tools for managing projects and program planning.
