From wonderful educational partners (public and private K12 schools and three local colleges/universities), a plethora of things to do/see, and a vibrant business and commerce community… about how you can call Fond du Lac, HOME!Job SummaryGrande Cheese Company is seeking a Senior Environmental Manager responsible for developing, leading, and coordinating environmental compliance and sustainability projects across our Enterprise. This role serves as a subject matter expert on federal, state, and local regulations (EPA, WDNR) while driving long-term environmental stewardship and advancing Grande’s corporate sustainability goals. The position is a high-level individual contributor role with a balance of strategic vision and hands-on expertise.
  • Develop and implement environmental management systems to reduce operational impacts.
  • Oversee compliance reviews, audits, permits, and regulatory reporting to ensure alignment with environmental laws and standards.
  • Partner with Engineering and plant teams to optimize wastewater operations, identify gaps, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead a cross-functional Wastewater Cohort to support collaboration, benchmarking, and knowledge sharing.
  • Champion sustainability projects including energy, water, waste, and carbon reduction initiatives.
  • Represent Grande with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and community partners.
  • Monitor evolving environmental legislation and provide guidance on company impact and readiness.
What you need to be considered for the role:4 Year / Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or the Sciences, preferably in chemical or environmental areas of study.Ten (10) or more years environmental related experience required, preferably in the dairy industry.Regulatory expertise: interpreting and applying federal/state/local regulations and environmental guidelines. * Possess working knowledge with the form, content, enforcement and implementation of Waste Water and Ground Water Standards, Air Quality Regulations, the State General Construction Permit, Construction Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans and Best Management Practices.
  • Expertise in EPA and WDNR regulations, communication, negotiation, and navigating government organization structures.
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels within the company, as well as organizations outside the company (regulatory agencies, contractors, consultants).
  • Analytical ability and process improvement knowledge.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently.
Willing and able to travel up to 50% to Grande facilities (all located within a 2-hour drive of Fond du Lac, WI).Preferred:Experience with sustainability practices and reporting tools preferred.Dairy wastewater treatment experience preferred.Education : Bachelors Degree
