
Energy Project Engineer - Energy & Carbon Analysis

- Commission new construction buildings, including the development and application of functional performance tests and test logs. Lead maintenance staff training.
- Retrocommission existing buildings including carrying out site walks, BMS trend analysis and review, and utility / meter data analysis. Develop lists of proposed ECMs, facilitate meetings with clients to review options, and write reports.
- Perform Level 1, 2, and 3 ASHRAE Energy Audits
- Perform energy studies with diverse scopes of work on a variety of building types
- Complete detailed whole building energy models. Ability to QA/QC energy models for accuracy.
- Perform Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA), including the social cost of carbon
- Carbon accounting
- Refrigerant analysis
- Optimize building control sequences, analyze and improve existing building controls, and develop points lists
- Understand and apply relevant code requirements
- Technical guidance and quality oversight, including code review, of all project work involving Mechanical engineering.
- Technical training and development of staff.
- Assist in establishing and improving standards, practices, guidelines, and specifications for mechanical discipline area.
- Engineer of Record
- BS in Mechanical or Energy Engineering from an accredited school. MS preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE). Existing license or the ability to obtain licensure in CO within 2 months of hire is preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of experience
- Experience should include the ability to:
- Apply a broad knowledge of principles and practices in the mechanical and energy engineering field
- Work independently with minimal supervision and direction
- Work on medium-sized projects or on larger projects with moderate complexity
- Produce deliverables that meet client goals and timelines while adhering to the project budget
- Assign tasks to engineers, technicians, and administrative staff
- Assist in defining scope, budgets, schedules, and proposals.
- Proficiency with whole building energy modeling software required. Experience using IES VE preferred.
- Self-motivated with highly developed verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Well-organized, takes good notes, and able to balance competing priorities.
- Energy Certifications and Accreditations required, such as CEM, CEA, BEMP, LEED AP BD+C. Interest in pursuing additional certifications strongly preferred.
