
Program Therapist

- Completes Initial Psychiatric Evaluations as defined by hospital policy and The Joint Commission standards
- Develops individualized treatment plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary team
- Conducts daily individual therapy sessions in accordance with standards required by program/level of care using evidence-based interventions
- Facilitates group therapy sessions using evidence-based treatment and approved protocols
- Completes collateral calls to families when patient has signed a release of information and follows up with patients who initially decline family involvement
- Adheres to hospital policy on documentation
- Completes screening and/or evaluations for patients who are at risk for suicide including CSSRS, Risk Assessment and when indicated, safety plans.
- Administers patient screening measures per program parameters
- Participates in the monitoring of clinical progression of care during treatment as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Remains up to date with available community resources and is skilled at assessing patient needs beyond hospitalization
- Coordinate care with external agencies as allowed by patient such as outpatient therapists or psychiatrist, PCP, probation officer or other agency who is involved in the patient's care.
- Maintains the privacy of patients and holds in confidence all information obtained in the course of professional service
- Participates in quality assurance projects for the program as assigned
- Provides training and supervision in individual and group psychotherapy for BA and MA level students as assigned.
- Advocates for the patient's needs within the department and with outside agencies
- Maintains computer skills necessary to complete all work
- Completes all hospital trainings on time as required
- Completes required Continuing Education Units as required by Accrediting Agency and maintains licensure in good standing within the State of RI
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Education: Master level or LCDP required. Independent clinical licensure preferred. Must be working towards independent licensure. (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT)
- Training and Experience: Previous experience in a psychiatric setting and/or in substance use treatment is required. Training and experience in delivering CBT/DBT/ACT/Motivational Interviewing and other related evidence-based practices preferred.
- Special Qualifications: Must have an interest and commitment in delivering care to patients with complex psychiatric and/or substance use problems. Must be able to tolerate the stress of multiple demands of working in a fast-paced environment and working within a multi-disciplinary staff framework while providing utmost care to a vulnerable patient population.
