About usMighty Minds and Muscles Therapy & Coaching Services is in lower Manhattan. We are looking for Academic Coaches. Our clinic is in the TriBeCa area downtown; cases will be done in our office or child's home. We provide a collaborative, rewarding, and energetic work environment. Our goal is to provide you with mentorship, knowledge, growth, and tons of learning opportunities to support you in becoming an sensory skilled academic coach. Oh and kiddos to fill your day!Immediate opportunities:
  • Part time hours to provide DOE approved SETSS hours to clients in our sensory clinic as well as in their home or school environment; can not be a direct DOE employee within last 12 months
  • Reading specialist to support in afterschool tutoring sessions, no DOE correlation.
  • Enrichment Coordinator for mid day programs based on academics for homeschool and preschool children.
  • All opportunities in Manhattan - TriBeCa, Union Square, Battery Park
About YouAn experienced Academic Coach to provide 1:1 support for children 5 years old and above who has worked with children with physical disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and Autism.All children have special needs or learning difficulties and require moderate to significant support. Sessions will be conducted mostly at our therapy center in Tribeca. The role can be designed to fit your skills set and schedule to some degree. The schedule is flexible however some students have pre-existing schedules.Our providers must have experience. Must be or get fingerprinted by the NYC DOE and cleared by the DOE HR system. This is not a DOE based caseload but we require a background check.Responsibilities include:
  • Supporting the child directly within a variety of environments as needed.
  • Collaborating with teachers, related service therapists (OT, PT, speech, counseling) and parents to provide learning, behavior, communication and self-care support.
  • Complete and compile daily notes, progress reports, goals and educational materials for teachers and parents, complying with state and city regulations.
  • Attend professional development courses and in-services to enhance your skills and fill up your "tool bag".
  • Must understand or be willing to learn sensory processing and behavior modification techniques.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and flexibility as you will be entering varies environments with a variety of curriculums and expectations.
  • Present yourself in a professional manner with punctuality and dedication.
EXPERIENCE: Experience with physical disabilities, non-verbal children/AAC devices, sign language.
  • Education requirements: Bachelor's Degree
  • License/Certification requirements: Certificate representing any qualifications or courses
  • Other requirements: Background check, fingerprinting, DOE/NY State registry paperwork.
