This immersive experience simulates the responsibilities of an investment associate, due diligence, deal structuring, pitching to an investment committee, and performance monitoring.
Students engage in the full lifecycle of real estate operations, from ground-up development planning to active asset and property management. This track strengthens their understanding of operations, risk, and long-term value creation working directly on CU owned assets on live real estate investment opportunities.
Students promote the Pathway's impact by leading storytelling, investor updates, branding, and central communications. This ensures partners, including alumni, donors, and future employers, are engaged with the Pathway's impact.
This position reports to the Executive Director of the Michael A. Klump Center for Real Estate at Leeds, bridging academic excellence and real-world execution. Implementing one of just a few live real estate investment fund applied learning activities in the country, the Klump Center Real Estate Investment Fund (KCREIF) offers students a structured, professional platform to make investment decisions, manage assets, and interact with leaders across the real estate ecosystem. This Pathway also provides students with real life management of assets and development, and a platform for showcasing the success of the Pathway.What Your Key Responsibilities Will BeAcademic & Student Program Leadership
Develop, instruct, and coordinate the year-round real estate investment fund (KCREIF) experiential learning activity.
Lead KCREIF recruitment, interviews, and selection of student participants in partnership with faculty and the Investment Committee.
Mentor and coach students through all phases of the investment cycle-from sourcing and underwriting to communicating deals and managing investments.
Identify new opportunities for applied and experiential learning for undergraduate and graduate students in real estate finance/investments including working on CU-owned assets as well as other opportunities.
Facilitate applied learning and elevate student integrity and tact through mentorship and accountability.
Partner with CU departments and alumni to provide a coordinated learning experience with the industry and actual projects and assets.
REIF Investment Oversight & Industry Engagement
In collaboration with the KCREIF manager, develop and maintain a robust pipeline of real estate investment opportunities through partnerships with sponsors, developers, brokers, and alumni.
Coordinate and prepare students for Investment Committee meetings and deal approvals.
Guide students in producing quarterly investment performance reports for partners.
Supervise asset management strategies in coordination with third-party operators and partners.
Program Strategy, Fundraising & Administration
Collaborate with the Klump Center and Advancement teams to support fundraising, alumni engagement, and long-term program sustainability.
Represent the Pathway and KREIF within the university and externally, positioning it as a national leader in student-led real estate investing and applied learning platform.
Ensure program alignment with academic standards, compliance protocols, and industry guidelines.
What You Should KnowThis is a part-time, 0.5 FTE university staff position. Additionally, the incumbent will contract separately with the department of Finance to instruct the REIF course sequence, which could vary from one to three courses per year.What We Can Offer$42,500 - $50,000. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution equivalent job related experience may substitute on a year for year basis.
5+ years of experience directly related to the work assignment.
What You Will Need
Graduate degree (MBA, MSRE, JD, or equivalent) preferred.
Experience managing investment committees or leading real estate funds.
Background in capital markets, acquisitions, or real estate private equity.
Previous instruction or executive education experience.
Well-established professional network to support deal sourcing and student development.
What We Would Like You to Have
10 years of professional experience in commercial real estate, investment, or asset management.
