The Enterprise Risk & Business Continuity Program Manager at BWXT plays a crucial role in protecting the organization's $3B enterprise against various risks through the design and enhancement of an integrated Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Business Continuity program. Reporting to the VP, Safety & Security, this leader develops and executes strategies for crisis management and business continuity that ensure resilience and maintain critical operations in high-stakes environments, all while fostering a risk-aware culture. By aligning ERM and continuity practices with corporate strategies and regulatory requirements, they provide executives and the board with the insights needed for informed, risk-adjusted decision-making.Location:On-site in McLean, VA or Lynchburg, VAYour Day to Day as a ERM & Business Continuity Program Manager:
- Lead the design and implementation of an ERM program aligned with COSO ERM and ISO 31000 specifically for the nuclear sector.
- Establish risk governance structures and policies, ensuring alignment with BWXT's corporate strategy and regulatory frameworks.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to define and maintain the company's risk appetite and tolerance levels.
- Conduct enterprise-wide risk assessments to identify emerging risks and maintain a comprehensive risk register.
- Monitor risks such as cybersecurity threats and supply chain vulnerabilities while advising leadership on implications.
- Collaborate with business units to develop and test effective risk mitigation strategies tailored to BWXT's growth strategy.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive Business Continuity Plan (BCP) tailored to BWXT's unique operational challenges.
- Conduct business impact analyses to identify critical functions essential for maintaining operations during crises.
- Serve as the primary operations officer during crises, coordinating responses and external communications.
- Deliver timely risk and continuity reports to executive leadership, ensuring critical insights are accessible for decision-making.
- Provide actionable insights highlighting exposures and recommended actions aligned with BWXT's strategic objectives.
- Cascade risk information throughout the organization to promote awareness and accountability in decision-making.
- Lead training programs to embed risk and continuity management into daily operations, fostering a culture of resilience.
- Serve as a coach and advisor to managers on applying ERM principles tailored to BWXT's operational context.
- Promote a culture focused on accountability and proactive risk identification using innovative tools and methodologies.
- 10+ years of experience in ERM, internal audit, corporate strategy, business continuity, compliance, or related disciplines
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Strong analytical capabilities for modeling risk scenarios and assessing their financial and operational impacts, enabling informed and actionable insights.
- Proven ability to lead and manage complex cross-functional initiatives within large enterprises, effectively navigating regulatory environments.
- Track record of fostering a proactive risk culture, demonstrated through improved employee engagement, successful training initiatives, and heightened leadership accountability.
- Experience in industrials, manufacturing, government contracting, or nuclear sectors a plus.
- Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
- Master's degree is a plus.
