And with biosolutions, the possibilities for transformation are endless.We’re here to better our world with biology.Join us as our new Research Associate in Fermentation Physiology, RTP!We are seeking a Research Associate with a passion for hands-on research and an interest in microbial physiology or fermentation to join our Fermentation Physiology team in the Research Triangle Park, NC. In this role, you will work with a diverse team of scientists and research associates anchored in the global Microbe and Culture Research R&D organization to help in the development of biosolutions for a more sustainable world. As a Research Associate, you will leverage your laboratory skill set to plan, execute and troubleshoot experiments across our core competency areas including cell banking, microbial screening, and fermentation development.In this role, you'll make an impact by:
  • Working within an agile team of research associates and scientists to deliver innovation and data to drive decision making across a number of industries including plant health, animal health, and human health
  • Performing independent laboratory work to support projects within the team
  • Mastering a variety of laboratory workflows including culturing a wide diversity of microbes, operation of bioreactors, and analysis of biological samples
  • Ensuring traceability through strong documentation and reporting
  • Maintaining a safe and functional laboratory space
  • Taking opportunities to learn new lab and data analysis skills to progress our team goals
To succeed you must hold:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry or related field. Industry experience is not required but practical lab experience beyond the classroom is desired.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with basic microbiology laboratory methods such as aseptic technique, culturing microbes, and plate based enumeration
  • Knowledge of microbial fermentation and experience with operation of bench scale bioreactors are a plus
  • Experience with data management and statistical analysis tools such as Python or JMP are a plus
  • A detail-oriented and self-driven attitude to conduct hands-on experiments in the laboratory
  • Strong inter-personal and effective written and oral communication skills
  • Flexibility to handle a variety of tasks and shifting priorities
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team
  • Must be able to work in the U.S. now and in the future without sponsorship
