- This role drives the development of a culture of Sustainability within the company, including oversight of leadership development, employee training and internal communications related to sustainability.
- The incumbent works with external associations such as the FPA, SPC, PSC and the APR to stay updated on legislative issues and consumer demands that impact our products and business operations.
- Given the very dynamic and quickly evolving nature in the areas of Sustainability, this position commits to an ongoing and very active continuous learning regimen.
- Leadership in direction of our Sustainable Packaging solutions. Actively seeks, solicits, and engages with Customers, Consumer research, sustainable infrastructure developments and emerging technologies in materials and processes to distill new directions for our Sustainable packaging development in new packaging solutions.
- Works very closely with Sales and Technical Engineering to provide clear direction on development of our “Thrive” Sustainable Packaging solutions.
- Experience with audit parties such as, SMETA, SEDEX, etc.
- As the recognized leader in Sustainability at PPC, this position will develop, maintain and deliver Sustainable presentations routinely to Customers with the Sales teams and internally for ongoing organizational development.
- Takes the lead in applying for and implementing agreed to Sustainable programs, such as the ISCC and the How2Recycle label program with the SPC.
- Leadership in developing and establishing corporate goals for Sustainable goals tied to ESG and EHS initiatives and coordinating the necessary reporting against those goals and metrics.
- Builds and maintains relationships in industry coalitions, environmental groups, sustainability organizations, and customers to build credibility and effectiveness.
- Other duties may be assigned and are required as part of the essential functions of the position.
- Experience and proficiency in preparing and delivering presentations for Leadership, Customers and PPC Associates.
- 3-5 years of experience in this active and dynamic broad space of Sustainability.
- 5-10 years of experience in the Flexible Packaging industry, highly preferable.
- Knowledge of and experience administrative processes in a plastic manufacturing facility a plus.
- An Engineering and/or an Environmental Science degree strongly preferred.
- Project Management experience preferred.
- Works autonomously and is a self-starter.
- Researcher and analytical (collected and/or analyzed GHG emission data or LCAs).
- Internal and External networking.
- Strong communication skills.
