- Past or present experience with Country Oven Bakery Engine room equipment, specifically the responsibility of the Country Oven Bakery Ammonia system (specific examples are prior or present- Primary or Secondary engine room mechanic) and be a current member of the Emergency Response Team
- Ability to understand complex verbal and written instructions; ability to read diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer's specifications, blueprints, etc.; understand basic math; through understanding of mechanics, electrical equipment, hydraulics/pneumatics, welding, and refrigeration; possess working knowledge of OSHA safety procedures and lock out program; knowledge ordinarily acquired through two years certification from vocational or technical school and 5 years prior maintenance experience.
- Use knowledge of mechanics and engineering and a high degree of concentration to observe and maintain the Engine Room systems. Such machinery includes: Ammonia system, air compressor system, fire protection system, boiler system, Electrical switchgear system, Sanitary (DAF) system, Plant Refrigeration (non- ammonia systems), Buildings/grounds and HVAC.
- Use safety practices and lock out procedures; involves using hand and arms to operate hand tools, welding equipment, air power tools, and electrical monitoring equipment. The ability to use proper techniques to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Receive work including planned preventative maintenance work orders or unplanned work requests from: Supervision, Planners or Engine Room Group Leader, determines the work to be completed, completes work, documents the work in the Engine Room Logbook and in the CMMS. This work includes checking mechanical defects, structural defects, electrical defects, pneumatic defects, etc. Perform all work in bakery manufacturing environment with high degree of noise, flour dust, odors and temperature extremes.
- Maintain daily upkeep of buildings and grounds; includes repairing leaks, building structures, flooring, air conditioning/heating, etc., and/or replacing fixtures, lighting, etc. Involves climbing ladders to repair roofs and building structures.
- Receive P/A system pages from various bakery plant department regarding maintenance and/or repairs to machinery and equipment.
- Troubleshoot PLC programs for the systems assigned.
- Install new Engine Room equipment. Includes installing special functional and structural parts in devices, using hand tools; start devices to test their performance.
- Record and log daily maintenance and/or repair activities in assigned area; includes recording all actions performed to keep the Engine room personnel informed and communicates to supervision.
- Attend Safety, Emergency Response, Process Safety management, Plant, and Departmental meetings regarding communications, safety, training, etc.
- Comply with all federal, state and local regulatory requirements and procedures.
- Attend Behavioral Accident Prevention Process (BAPP) Training, periodically conducts observations within the plant and selects safety goals annually.
- Participates in Focus Teams and "If Down-Do" strategies.
- Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve reliability of the overall operation, plus selecting reliability goals annually.
- Occasionally assists in moving equipment and furniture.
- Maintain cleanliness of work area; includes sweeping floors and placing trash in trash receptacles.
- Follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements.
- Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the SQF Programs.
- Be accountable to the Kroger Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality Principles
- Complete required OSHA, Country Oven Bakery, and Process Safety Management training.
