The Pediatric Unit is looking for experienced Clinical Nurses who are flexible, enthusiastic about family and patient-centered care, and passionate about pediatrics care. Our 35-bed unit will allow you to care for all pediatrics patients in the following services lines: Pedi oncology, pediatrics surgical, pediatrics stem cell transplant and cellular therapy and young adult stem cell transplant and cellular therapy.The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree and two years of recent ICU experience, preferably in pediatrics or oncology. Must be able to work 7pm to 7am including rotating weekends and holidays.The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (MD Anderson) and Texas Children's (TC) announced a new collaboration on February 19, 2025. The collaborative operations and patient care are anticipated to launch in early 2026. This advertised position is within the scope of the new collaboration and will not continue at MD Anderson beyond 12/31/25. Opportunity to continue in this role at TC may be offered by TC. Candidates will have the option to discuss the impact of the collaboration with Human Resources professionals.Summary
Function manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care.Scope- Impacts quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.Essential Job FunctionsAccountable for the management and provision of patient care in assigned area.Assesses patient's needs for nursing care and multidisciplinary team.Collaborates with physicians, other services, patient and patient's family to plan care and evaluate outcomes.Improves practice by integrating results and theories of research studies.Participates in data collection for current studies.Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies.Documents care according to established standards.Accesses, inputs and retrieves information from computer systems.Assures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services.Acts as a patient and family advocate in order to uphold patient rights.Trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.Other duties as assigned.
