The Mission of the Division of Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired (DSBVI) is to assist individuals in achieving their highest level of independence, participation in society and employment consistent with individual interests, values, preferences and abilities. The Utah State Office of Rehabilitation (USOR) / DSBVI is seeking a skilled and motivated TAS Program Support Specialist to work in Salt Lake City, UT.Principal Duties
  • Promptly address the needs of staff and students, ensuring timely support and assistance.
  • Substitute classes and follow curriculum and teacher instructions. Some classes include braille, home management, basic cane travel, and adaptive computers.
  • Document progress of students in the classes substituted.
  • Plan and execute monthly offsite training activities, facilitating real-world learning experiences for students.
  • Prioritize and complete time-sensitive tasks efficiently, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing communications, including phone calls and emails, resolving inquiries in a timely manner. Provide backup support for the main line as needed.
  • Manage and maintain calendars for the TAS program, coordinating appointments and events effectively.
  • Produce and distribute the TAS TIDBITS newsletter regularly.
  • Coordinate and document all student and staff team meetings, ensuring notes are accurately recorded and stored appropriately.
  • Arrange travel and process meal reimbursements for student off site training.
  • Assist in ordering and maintaining necessary supplies for the TAS program.
  • Support the review and management of purchase card transactions.
  • Maintain comprehensive records, including student applications, schedules, attendance, milestone achievements, and budgetary information.
  • Attend staff meetings and client staffing sessions as scheduled, and participate in blindness-related training to enhance professional knowledge.

  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must demonstrate sensitivity, accountability, objectivity and tactfulness.
  • Positive attitude and tolerance for stress.
  • Demonstrate ability to assess, monitor and evaluate needs and progress in services.
  • Highly enthusiastic with a positive outlook on life.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft office such as Word, Outlook, and Excel.
