- Serve as subject matter expert for Fortune Brands Innovations Distribution in EHSS compliance, risk reduction, and strategy; provide Distribution-specific input to FBIN-wide EHSS procedures, initiatives, etc.
- Develop and implement EHSS policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with all relevant Company requirements and government rules and regulations; provide high-level leadership, support, consistency, and guidance in the following areas:
- Program implementation
- EHSS laws and regulations
- Project and governance support
- Best practice sharing
- Support business and site leadership in driving EHSS cultural transformation.
- Partner with Distribution leadership to develop EHSS improvement strategy; provide and analyze data, trends, benchmarking, and other relevant data to help set priorities; manage assessment process for critical EHSS risk areas and drive sustainable improvements; identify, develop and lead EHSS improvement initiatives across the Distribution organization that reduce risk and drive cultural change.
- Provide guidance on the safe and compliant shipment of hazardous materials, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, proper documentation, and seamless logistics for dangerous goods transportation.
- Maintain complete, accurate and timely electronic EHSS data in Company systems of record/databases.
- Ensure EHSS training is adequate and complete; develop and conduct training as needed (personally or via train-the-trainer sessions).
- Lead communication with applicable regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders when required.
- Work closely with other internal functions with respect to employee health and safety. Provide subject matter expertise on regulatory requirements for managing and reporting injuries or illnesses.
- Train, mentor, and develop site leadership and EHSS associates on EHSS programs, requirements, and culture.
- Lead investigations of EHSS events and near misses; develop and implement corrective actions.
- BS/MS in occupational health & safety, engineering, environmental sciences, or a related field with significant EHSS experience is preferred. In lieu of a degree, commensurate experience will be considered.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience required, including 4 leading EHSS programs in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment; significant experience with material storage, management, movement, and shipping required.
- Professional EHSS certifications preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of the relevant safety and environmental regulations required.
- Experience designing, writing, implementing EHS policies and programs.
- Experience engaging people across organizations and building a culture of H&S excellence is required.
- Demonstrated experience in incident investigation is required; experience Learning Teams is preferred.
- Team player with the ability to think conceptually, flexibly, and strategically; excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including solid project management skills.
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally without restriction; ability to travel up to 35%.
