- Build and manage a dynamic, inclusive editorial calendar that advances our mission and engages our community.
- Develop content that excites, informs, and challenges, from educational resources to advocacy pieces to personal stories.
- Blend data and instinct to deliver relevant content across web, search, and emerging platforms.
- Strategize around content that shifts mindsets, sparks dialogue, and moves people to act.
- Seamlessly integrate branded campaigns and partner content that add real value.
- Recruit and manage freelance writers and subject matter experts, ensuring quality and alignment with our voice.
- Guide content through every phase, from pitch to polish to publication, with thoughtful edits and creative direction.
- Collaborate with our in-house clinician to ensure medical accuracy in a way that’s engaging and easy to understand.
- Respond to community story submissions with empathy, clarity, and professionalism.
- Manage editorial inbox, workflows (Asana), publishing tools (WordPress), and file-sharing systems (Google Suite).
- Oversee editorial budget and timelines.
- Lead our web content optimization project, improving mobile UX, searchability, and relevance with agency support.
- Continuously refine tagging and categorization so content is easier to find and navigate.
- Identify opportunities to repackage content for new formats and audiences, and get creative with it.
- Collaborate with the digital marketing team on innovation, including AI chatbots and future-forward tools.
- Use audience insights and content performance data to drive strategy and creative decisions.
- Establish KPIs and regularly report on what’s working and what can be improved.
- Explore new ways to scale content, enhance processes, and serve more people with greater impact.
- Partner across teams to align editorial content with marketing, growth, advocacy, and mission-driven goals.
- Contribute to a culture of collaboration, creativity, and open communication.
- Lead with flexibility and solution-minded thinking, especially when navigating constraints.
- A seasoned writer/editor with 5+ years of experience in digital media, ideally with a health or wellness focus
- Someone with a personal or professional connection to the diabetes community
- Experienced as a managing editor or editorial lead, with a strong grasp of AP Style and collaborative publishing workflows
- Fluent in tools like WordPress, Asana, Slack, and Google Suite
- A careful editor and clear communicator, who can translate complexity into engaging, human stories
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive about pushing projects forward
