International freight forwarding and logistics business seeks Chief Operating Officer to join their HQ in LA.Chief Operating Officer (COO) sought to join the executive leadership team and drive operational excellence, scalability, and sustainable growth. Reporting directly into the CEO, the COO's main duties and responsibilities include the following:
  • Oversee day-to-day global operations, covering freight forwarding (air, sea, and land), customs clearance, warehousing, and supply chain management.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency, service quality, and profitability.
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives including automation, process optimization, and technology adoption.
  • Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations, trade laws, and industry standards.
  • Manage full P&L responsibility for operations, focusing on cost efficiency and long-term revenue growth.
  • Build and foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer-centric service delivery.
  • Partner with the CEO and executive team to define long-term business strategies and global expansion goals.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, carriers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing global operations team.
  • Monitor KPIs and operational metrics to ensure service excellence and delivery performance.

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of senior operational leadership experience within freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain management.
  • Strong knowledge of international freight forwarding processes, customs compliance, and global trade regulations.
  • Demonstrated success managing large-scale, multi-region operations.
  • Proven P&L management experience with a strong financial and commercial acumen.
  • Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and drive operational compliance.
  • Strategic mindset with a hands-on approach to execution.
  • Familiarity with logistics technology platforms (TMS, WMS, ERP systems).
