
Engineering Intern - Metallurgy & Materials Lab

- Prepare samples from the starting metallic or non-metallic component with cutting, polishing, gold coating, etc.
- Operate specialized laboratory equipment to collect material characterization data including metallography, fractography, FTIR, hardness testing, OES, and possibly SEM/EDS, etc.
- Synthesize the results from various characterization techniques to assess component quality and determine likely failure mechanisms where appropriate.
- Interface with internal and external customers to help understand their needs and supply answers.
- Learn and conduct equipment usage, measurement techniques, data interpretation, laboratory operating procedures and report construction.
- Maintenance of laboratory consumable and spare parts inventory.
- Laboratory equipment maintenance, calibration tracking and housekeeping.
- Reliable work output and work hours
- College student pursing a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Materials Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, etc.).
- Self-Starter
- Strong project and time management skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills (ability to explain technical details in common language)
