This role requires a strong understanding of packaging materials, protective packaging design, regulatory compliance, and supply chain logistics to ensure products are delivered safely and cost-effectively to customers worldwide.Packaging Design & DevelopmentDesign and develop innovative packaging solutions for energy technology products including batteries, power systems, inverters, and related componentsCreate packaging specifications, drawings, and documentation using CAD softwareConduct packaging testing and validation to ensure product protection during shipping and handlingCollaborate with product development teams to integrate packaging requirements early in the design processEngineering Analysis & OptimizationPerform structural analysis and simulations to optimize package design for protection and costConduct drop tests, vibration tests, and environmental testing to validate packaging performanceAnalyze packaging failures and implement corrective actionsOptimize packaging designs for sustainability, cost reduction, and material efficiencyRegulatory Compliance & StandardsEnsure all packaging meets relevant industry standards (UN, DOT, IATA, ISTA) and regulatory requirementsStay current with hazardous materials shipping regulations for energy storage productsCoordinate with the regulatory affairs team on packaging certifications and approvalsMaintain documentation for audit and compliance purposesSupply Chain CollaborationWork closely with suppliers to develop and qualify packaging materials and componentsSupport manufacturing teams with packaging line design and process optimizationCollaborate with logistics teams to optimize packaging for transportation efficiencyParticipate in supplier audits and qualification processesProject ManagementLead packaging development projects from concept through implementationManage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and budget constraintsCoordinate cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and supply chainPresent project updates and recommendations to managementMinimum Job RequirementsBachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field3+ years of experience in packaging engineering, preferably in technology or energy sectorsExperience with energy storage products, batteries, or electronic components preferredProficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)Knowledge of packaging materials including corrugated, foam, plastics, and protective materialsUnderstanding of shipping and handling environments and associated testing standardsExperience with finite element analysis (FEA) software preferredFamiliarity with packaging testing equipment and methodologiesKnowledge of UN regulations for dangerous goods packaging (UN 38.3 for batteries)Understanding of DOT, IATA, and international shipping regulationsExperience with ISTA testing protocols and package optimizationPreferred Job RequirementsMaster's degree in Packaging Engineering or related fieldProfessional certifications (CPP - Certified Packaging Professional)Experience with sustainable packaging initiatives and circular economic principlesKnowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologiesExperience with lithium battery packaging and UN 38.3 testing requirementsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent project management and organizational abilitiesEffective communication and presentation skillsAbility to work collaboratively in cross-functional teamsDetail-oriented with strong documentation skillsAdaptability to work in a fast-paced, evolving technology environmentExperience with hardware user experience including physical interfaces, marking methods (labeling, etc.), user guides, setup, and unboxing experience.Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.
