The Success Coach coach guides and assists new and current students enrolled in the To the Finish Line program to recognize their potential, maximize their academic and experiential learning, make informed academic decisions based on life and career goals, overcome barriers to achieve their desired credential at Ivy Tech, and successfully transition to the workforce.The Success Coach assists students in their growth and development by constructing meaningful personal development plans which are compatible with their life and educational goals. Primary areas of focus include life coaching, career planning in collaboration with Career Coaches, case management support, and facilitation of crisis mitigation assistance through the Community Partners network.Annual Salary: $50,000On-Site(s) PositionThis is a grant funded position. The grant is funded through 8/30/2024. There is a possibility but no guarantee the grant may be extended beyond this date and if so the position may be extended.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Collaborate with campus Ivy+Careers, Enrollment Services, and Academics to coordinate and / or propose plans to meet and exceed student needsFosters persistence and completion by maintaining a caseload of To the Finish Line studentsMonitors progress of students in caseload with coaching sessions, scheduled meetings or proactive outreach and communication, and responds to students' questions, concerns and needsAids students in establishing personal development plans aligned with their educational goalsIdentifies and mitigates obstacles which might be impede academic success by deploying crisis mitigation assistance provided by the Community Partners NetworkAssesses and processes tuition assistance / scholarship awards to eligible studentsAssists students in developing self-efficacy by working with students to learn strong time management and organization skills while motivating students to practice self-regulation and take ownership of their academic successCoordinates and collaborates with external Academic Accountability Partner to provide academic coaching and the implementation of student response action plans for at-risk studentsRefers students to appropriate academic personnel and support resources and collaborates with others to monitor and accelerate the academic progress of the students referredWork collaboratively across college departments and external community partners that have diverse faculty / staff teams with the view towards increasing student engagement and retentionGathers and compiles data to prepare weekly reports on client services and outcomesDevelops deep understanding and appreciation of Student Success Coaching best practicesTravel between the three Lake County Campus locations (East Chicago, Gary, and Crown Point) to meet service needs with clientsThis is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
  • Bachelor's degree is required with one (1) to three (3) years related work experience OR Associate's degree with industry related certification along with three (3) to four (4) years related work experience
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and detail-oriented skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Proven and successful track record of strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to effectively and professionally engage people with empathy and tact
  • Must be especially comfortable with high levels of inbound /outbound calls, emails and texts with online students.
