
Advanced Practice Provider (NP / PA) – Hematology Oncology (Inpatient 2nd Shift)

- Assume in-house first call for the Hematology/Oncology/BMT inpatient units during designated coverage hours. Provide cross coverage and respond promptly to all pages and questions related to the care of patients in assigned inpatient services.
- Provide initial assessment for oncology patients admitted to the hospital. Manage urgent patient care issues related to internal medicine or critical care needs. Provide post-admission assessments during designated hours for patients with a change in condition.
- From 2:00 pm, participate in sign-out activities from the daytime care team and sign off to the night team at midnight following completion of shift.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary health care teams in diagnosis and treatment of conditions requiring Hematology/Oncology/BMT intervention in inpatient environment as a member of the HemOnc/BMT inpatient service.
- Writes accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and/or admission and transfer orders.
- Order, perform, and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicates and documents information.
- Privileged to perform procedures beyond core as identified by the Hematology/Oncology/BMT.
- Facilitates and communicates with patient, family and staff to promote continuity of care across the continuum of care.
- Attend required training and meets key regulatory requirements, including those of the privileging institution, CMS, and the Join Commission.
- Evaluates quality outcomes for the patients receiving care of this team through participation in the development of quality indicators and outcomes dashboard.
- Acquires information on the most current development and trends in the Physician Assistant field and/or Nurse Practitioner field, through educational programs, in-services, professional associates, and current literature.
- Participates in ongoing clinical research projects related to the field of hematology/oncology/BMT
- Perform comprehensive histories and physical exams, identifies normal and abnormal findings, including physical, cognitive and psychosocial status.
- Order, perform, and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicates and documents information
- Write accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and/or admission and transfer orders
- Develop pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans.
- Monitor effectiveness of plan of care
- Educate patients on disease and treatment plans.
- Perform procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed.
- Document within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and completes other necessary documents.
- Collaborate and/or consults with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate.
- Educates, counsels, and assists patients and families regarding current health problems, health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors.
- Attend required training and meets key regulatory requirements, including those of the privileging institution, CMS, and the Joint Commission.

Alternating schedule; one week on and one week off; generally, Monday-Thursday, 2:00pm-12:00am; Fridays, 1:00pm-9pm; Saturday and Sunday, 7:00am-5:00pPosition Requirements:Required Experience: Zero years of experienced requiredPreferred Experience:
- Five-year experience as a Physician Assistant/ Nurse Practitioner with at least 1-2 years in a clinic or hospital environment working with chemotherapy or hematology/oncology/BMT patients OR within Critical Care, Urgent Care, ED or ICU environments
- Internal medicine knowledge and skills preferred
- Previous RN experience and/or New Grad with Strong interest in HemOnc/BMT are encouraged to apply
