- Manage and direct the day to day activities of the Mechanical Engineering Group and make individual work assignments.
- Monitor individual performance and prepare formal Performance Appraisal Reports.
- Serve as Mechanical Engineer role in the development, integration, fielding and operational support of various flight test instrumentation systems used to track and collect data from missile flights.
- Work consists of making moderate to substantial improvements of processes, systems, solutions or products to enhance performance of job area
- Perform Mechanical Engineer duties on mature systems that require sustaining oversight.
- Lead, direct and review the work of mechanical team to accomplish near-term operational plans and results.
- Lead the preparation of mechanical material for design reviews (drawings and slides) and present during customer design reviews.
- Lead design of robust mechanical assemblies to meet specific shock and vibrational requirements
- Create innovative solutions to complex problems, prepare pros and cons for management evaluation.
- Develop design documentation that includes drawings, specifications and data items that meet customer and military specifications
- Advanced proficiency in mechanical and electro-mechanical design in Siemens NX, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD (similar 3D CAD tools are acceptable)
- Develop and manage part system, subsystem and component data through Teamcenter, Autodesk Vault (similar PLM environment is acceptable)
- Perform and generate report of stress, thermal, shock and vibration analysis using FEA software (Altair Design Suite, ANSYS, etc.)
- Directly interface with members of the product development team to produce high quality/dependable products. Members impacted by mechanical design include: Electrical Engineering, Test Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Systems Engineering, Safety Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Verification Engineering, PCB Design, and Management teams
- Contribute to proposal activities.
- Understand configuration management as it applies to product documentation
- Assist with design verifications
- Assist with the fabrication and test of prototype hardware
- Perform and/or oversee design verification tests IAW plan/instructions
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that is cooperative and supportive of customers, co-workers and managers
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and a minimum of 6 yrs prior experience or Graduate degree and 4 years of related work experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
- Broad knowledge of project management
- Experience working with Earned Value Management (EVMS)
- Ability to interpret drawings, schematics and cabling diagrams
- Ability and willingness to travel (typically less than 30 days per year)
