
Structural Welder

- Full-time
- Welds parts in position for fabrication of vessels, tanks or other structural assemblies.
- Uses carbon electrodes to cut, shape and groove metal.
- May prepare workplace for welding by cleaning and/or preheating.
- Examines weld sizes of weld beads.
- Cleans weld area; sweeps and removes scrap.
- Other job duties as may be assigned relevant to the trade
- Welds shell plating, fabricated cast or forged components according to specifications for vessels, tanks or other structural assemblies
- Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.
- Previous experience or training is required
- Must be able to qualify in two gas shielded FCAW welding processes 71T-1 and 811N3 in the three positions
- Knowledge of welding characteristics of metal.Must be able to work at heights, confined spaces, and any assigned shift
- Frequent to continuous lifting of welding equipment
- Works in all areas of the shipyard and on board ships
- Hearing warning signals and reading and comprehending safety instructions
- May be required to attend safety, quality and/or process improvement meetings
- Exposure to fumes, odors, dust, gases, various climates and temperatures, and low ventilation conditions, all of which can cause discomfort and/or respiratory difficulties
- Exposure to constantly moving machines, mechanical parts, and high levels of constant noise.
- Up to $25/hour and $22/hour w/ Per Diem available for Non Local Applicants
