- Validate existing gas pipeline positions by using related client mapping data and/or GIS system to confirm pipe specifications.
- Use related project data to accurately identify Gas Take-Off fittings for both Polyethylene and Steel Gas pipeline energized or de-energized sources for 60 and above PSI systems.
- Identify Gas Main and Service pipe fittings required for gas control for installation, renewing, and/or removing from service gas facilities.
- Identify key components required for tapping, testing, energizing, and abandoning of natural gas pipelines.
- Interpret Field Sketches and/or As-Builts to determine existing and proposed Gas Pipeline alignments.
- Propose gas pipeline alignments and fittings that meet design and constructability requirements.
- Decipher Wet and Dry utility records to eliminate any construction conflicts with proposed alignments.
- Use client and other related standards to accurately proposed gas pipelines and fittings.
- Use client provided CAD files to accurately position drawing coordinates.
- Use client estimating tools and enter required quantities based on design. (FOMS, Vauchers)
- Make recommendations for design improvements based on needs and requirements.
- Mentor other designers and drafters.
- Primary point of contact on design for internal
- Communicate design status to appropriate stakeholders.
- Meet with local utility stakeholders during the pre-design phase. Meetings are in-person and/or onsite.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- 3-5 Years of AutoCAD or MicroStation pipeline Drafting/Design Experience.
- 3-5 Years or equivalent in Design of Steel and/or Polyethylene pipeline projects, plan/profile, and detailed piping drawings.
- Design experience in Gas Distribution and/or transmission internal and external driven pipeline projects.
- ArcGIS (Geographic information systems) understanding.
- Proficient use of MS Office Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Understanding utility records, plat maps, as-builts, construction drawings and gas service records for existing condition interpretation.
- Understanding of Natural Gas Design standards, Gas distribution system concepts, Gas pipeline terms and definitions and/or related utility experience.
- High School diploma or Equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license
- Meet required deadlines and exceed client expectations.
- Working knowledge of local natural gas utility /or natural gas utility pipeline design and construction standards.
- Previous local Gas utility experience.
- Experience in public utility design and construction, natural gas pipelines, water/sewer infrastructure, or electric distribution overhead and underground infrastructure.
- Knowledge of permitting entities/municipal requirements for Clark County, City of Henderson, Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Mesquite, Boulder City, NDOT, and Bullhead-AZ.
- Knowledge of agency requirements for Basic Water Co, Nern River, NV Energy, SNWA/LVVWD, and Lumen.
- Experience with Cal-OSHA regulations and compliance standards.
- Certificate of Training in technical drafting.
- Ability to work autonomously after expectation is set.
- Must be a self-starter and work independently with conflicting deadlines.
- Receive and provide constructive peer reviews.
- Maintain excellent project communication with continuously changing tools and processes.
- Attention to detail and precision.
- Must have strong Time Management skills.
- Must possess the ability to effectively interact with various departments to maintain open lines of communication. Written and/or in-person.
- Demonstrate ability to learn new design software and design standards.
