- Provide Level 2 support to resolve routine technical problems at both an application and infrastructure level in a multi-tenant data center.
- Triage and escalate more complex problems to Tier 3 support.
- Assist in leading and coordinating response/resolution efforts for complex system problem/outages until Outage Coordinator duties are assumed by senior Incident Management personnel.
- Ensure that timely and accurate notifications are provided on an ongoing basis to designated management and staff.
- Create, modify, administer and troubleshoot basic automation tasks/job packages with automation software.
- Interface with local Systems Manager, System Administrator, Project Manager and jurisdictional staff as appropriate during projects.
- Provide, and maintain ongoing operational procedural documentation for L2.
- Review database, web, server & network utilization reports to produce Operational metrics and process recommendations.
- Work with Product Development teams and architects regarding planning and deployment strategies on new technologies.
- Make recommendations regarding improved operating systems and procedures.
- Performs audit management tasks (user logs, password changes, change control etc.).
- Think outside the box and come up with improvement and efficiency opportunities to streamline business and operational workflows.
- Four - Six years experience acting in a data center technical role supporting a large scale Linux powered virtualized data center (RHEL certificaiton preferred).
- Working knowledge of ticketing systems like JIRA, Service Now, Easy Vista, Salesforce.
- Working knowledge of hyper-converged infrastructures, Windows operating systems, Linux operating systems, user management tools (ex: Open LDAP), client/server networking, scripting languages and tools (especially Python and Ansible), databases and basic SQL query skills, version control applications like GIT, SVN.
- Working knowledge and experience working with and supporting system monitoring toolkits like Tivoli, ELK, etc.
- Intermediate skill level knowledge of VMware environments and VMware monitoring tools, FTP/SFTP protocols with an ability to navigate through Unix/Linux (Red Hat)/AIX/VMS/DOS and perform intermediate commands.
- Intermediate skill level knowledge of IT best practices and associated tools related to Incident, Change, Release, Audit, and Problem Management. Ex: ITIL Foundations certification, SOX audit experience, SOC audit experience
